Apartment in the heart of Ålesund

Apartment is not suitable for families Positive: The apartment itself was clean and it was in a good location, however .... Negative: The communal entrance and hallway was filthy and shabby, it is unfortunate that it is also where the rubbish bins are located. The main door is not locked. The apartment has a strange layout and I would not recommend this for families, one bedroom is far away at the end of a corridor next to a very strange fire escape. That part of the apartment is also cold and not suitable for small children. There was no hot water in the room with the toilet. Also the shower room was a corridor it was very strange and was too small for my husband to fit under, he is not particularly tall 6ft, there was also only enough hot water for 2 people to shower. It ran out. There were also no places to hang up towels. The main door to the apartment did not lock from the inside, so felt unsafe at night, there was an inner door with a small lock which we used. The sofas had awful stains on then and felt a bit grotty, but overall the apartment itself was clean. The communication with host initially bespreken we arrived was good, as I saw a previous review the day before our stay that I was concerned about. They responded immediately to assure me the apartment had been cleaned and to warn me about the bins in the entrance, so I was prepared prior to our arrival. However, on the second day I asked the host where the iron was as there was an ironing board but no iron, but they did not reply. Definitely not worth the money we paid, however if the host was honest in what they offered and showed up to date pictures and the price reflected the state then it was overall cean, and the kitchen was well stocked, but definitely not worth the money paid.

Enjoy your vacation, look for a hotel. Positive: Location is good, close to stores, ferry to Geiranger and many restaurants/coffee shops. At least the bedrooms and linen felt clean. Negative: We were “warmly welcomed” by the stick of trash as soon as opening the street door, followed by a dumper first floor. Up in the apartment, the living room smells like sweat. There is no proper shower. Rather a shower head in a random room with a laundry machine and short ceilings, what makes it rather challenging. no hairdryer available. Place is not looking like in the picture above.
